There are some character actors who stood out with their performances in films in 2011. Can we imagine Sholay without Surma Bhopali or Dhanno? Or Zanjeer without Mona Darling? Well, that's what certain characters bring to a film - you just can't forget them or imagine the film without them. It's true, that the hero, heroine or villain are the main characters in any film, but it's the characters around them, who sometimes help bring some magic to the screen.
We list a few who made an impact in the year 2011.
Swara Bhaskar in Tanu Weds Manu: She played Payal, Kangana Ranaut's friend. And though Kangana was the chulbuli heroine, Payal stole the show with her absolutely delightful performance. We look forward to more from this talented girl.
Radhika Apte in Shor: As
Tusshar Kapoor's queit, subdued wife, Radhika did not leave much of an impact. But it was in the one scene where she displays her true nature (she is more well-read than her husband), that this actress was a revelation for the audience watching the film.
Divya Jagdale in Stanley Ka Dabba: The strict South Indian Sciene teacher played by Divya Jagdale, was one of the most memorable characters we had in the year. Someone, give this lady more of these roles please!
Pitobash in Shor: Pitobash's character, the tapori Mandook was a scene-stealer in every sense of the word! The actor's quirky act was appreciated by all.
Deepak Dobrial in Tanu Weds Manu: He played Pappiji, Madhavan's friend, in the film. And although he wasn't as impressive in
Ram Gopal Varma's Not A Love Story, but in TWM, he's the complete foil to Madhavan's serious act.
